“I love going to Balloon Football and catching up with my mates. It has become the highlight of my week.”
– Jye, BFL Coach
A young man with a cheeky sense of humour, Jye joined the Bendigo Balloon Football League (BFL) seven years ago. BFL is a sport designed by and for people with a disability.
Prior to the establishment of the Balloon Football League, Jye didn’t have many options to get active and involved in his community. Unfortunately, limited pathways to sports participation is common for people who have severe physical and multiple disabilities.
The good news is that Scope’s Balloon Football program creates that opportunity for people who may otherwise miss out on the benefits of sports. It enables these individuals to develop a real sense of belonging and identity.
Jye’s involvement has given him the chance to build his capacity and develop leadership skills and confidence, expand his social networks and improve his physical literacy and fitness.
Please help us continue to deliver our vital programs such as Balloon Football – ensuring that the marginalised people we support can participate meaningfully in their community.
